Are you starting to think about your air conditioning yet? Let’s face it, most of us don’t sit around wondering “hey, I wonder if my refrigerant levels are properly topped off”. We have busy lives, and we don’t really dwell on that. But taking a few moments to check on your air conditioning system each year could save you thousands of dollars.

First of all, check the filters on the interior portion of your unit. Most of the time, if it looks dirty – replace it. Even if it doesn’t look dirty, but is still outside its lifespan, then replacing it proactively is still a good idea.

Then check the outside portion of your AC system. Make sure there is no vegetation right up against it and that the area is clear of debris. Also check for any damage, like dents in the side of the unit. Also, check the refrigerant line insulation as well.

Most of all, be sure to have the system inspected yearly by a qualified HVAC specialist.
